Short-Term Housing

A Safe,
Structured Place
to Reset and Rebuild

At New Life Discovery, short-term housing is more than a roof over your head. It is a safe, structured, healing space where individuals can reset, rebuild, and reclaim their future.

We serve individuals at critical crossroads, including those exiting incarceration, being discharged from hospitals or treatment centers, or navigating chronic homelessness.

Our program provides stability, structure, and compassionate accountability to support the transition toward permanent housing and self-sufficiency.

Support at a
Critical Turning Point

As a trusted provider of life development services in Northern CA, we walk alongside each individual, meeting them where they are and helping them take meaningful steps forward.

Short-term housing offers the breathing room needed to stabilize, reflect, and begin building a sustainable path forward. We believe real change happens when people are supported, not rushed.

Who Short-Term Housing Is For

Our short-term housing program supports adults navigating vulnerable transitions, including:

Individuals experiencing homelessness or housing instability
Individuals recently released from jail, detox, or inpatient treatment
Those discharged from hospitals who need a structured setting
Participants in Enhanced Care Management (ECM) or care coordination
Individuals needing support during recovery, reentry, or housing transitions

We welcome referrals from jails, hospitals, ECM providers, social services, families, and direct inquiries from individuals who are ready for change.

You do not need to have everything figured out before you arrive. You simply need to be willing to take the next step, and we will take it with you.

What to Expect in
Short-Term Housing

Our life development services begin the moment an individual enters short-term housing. Daily life is designed to promote healing, structure, and forward momentum.

Our housing communities are staffed by compassionate professionals who understand trauma, relapse, and resistance. We train our team to walk with clients through challenges, not around them.

“When my son left jail, I didn’t know what to do.
NLDP gave him structure and safety, and gave me peace of mind.”
— Parent of a Former Client

FAQ

How long can a person stay in short-term housing?

Most stays range from 30 to 180 days, depending on individual goals and county guidelines. Our team works closely with each client to plan their next steps, whether that involves permanent housing, step-down care, or outpatient support.

Can individuals work or attend appointments while in the program?

Yes. We encourage residents to maintain employment, attend treatment or medical appointments, and stay connected to their care plans. Our staff offers support with scheduling and transportation as needed.

What happens after short-term housing ends?

We provide care coordination to ensure clients move into safe, stable long-term housing or lower-intensity programs. Our support doesn’t end with the stay. It continues as clients move forward.
